Expert recommendation of the latest disposable and specialty contact lenses for comfortable sharp vision at all distances. We get referrals every day from other doctors and patients who rely on us to take on their unique individual case and turn them into successful glasses and contact lens wearers.

A thorough eye exam should always include a careful look at the retina, which is located at the back of the eye, to screen for abnormalities or disease. This sensitive tissue that makes up the retina and optic nerve is susceptible to a variety of diseases that can ultimately lead to partial loss of vision or even complete blindness. Early detection of any retinal abnormalities including diabetes or macular degeneration or optic nerve disease such as glaucoma is thus crucial. Previously, this screening was done by dilating the pupils, a procedure that many patients found uncomfortable, inconvenient and time-consuming.

Facilities and Equipment

Retinal Disease Detection with NO DILATING DROPS

Vision Source InSight Eyecare is one of the first eye care practices in the Atlanta area to offer its patients the Optomap retinal exam (developed by Optos® North America). We are dedicated to offering our patients the best eye care possible, and acquiring the tools to help us do so. Optomap® retinal exam is becoming standard of care throughout the world.

The Optomap retinal exam takes a computer-generated image of virtually the entire retina, which can be immediately evaluated by the doctors. There is no pupil dilation, no eye drops, blurred vision or sensitivity to light. The Optomap retinal exam is a simple, quick and important way to maintain good eye health. The Optomap allows doctors to spend more time with patients, and provides a permanent photo-documentation that can be sent to a patient’s primary care physician or specialist if needed and can also be used to educate patients.

Today, we are diagnosing serious eye conditions – such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments and macular degeneration – that could have otherwise gone undetected and often progress without symptoms.” Most patients who have a problem in their retina, can see and actually feel fine.

The Optomap Retinal exam is simple: without dilating drops and with the push of a button, we can generate a digital image of your nearly your entire retina for immediate review. Experience with this technology has already led to improved disease detection and has possibly prevented vision loss and blindness in several patients.

Treatment of Eye Diseases

Our office provides emergency services for eye infections and eye injuries. Please call our office at  404-250-1680 during office hours, after hours or on weekends. Our staff will work with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. State of the art microscopes allow us to examine the front surface of the eye and facial areas around the eye for infection or injury. After assessing the extent of the injury or infection a treatment plan will be formulated and explained to you. Treatment may include medications and supportive care. Follow-up visits to monitor your recovery will be scheduled as needed.

Dry Eyes: Symptoms include scratchy eyes, burning, mild redness and gritty feeling eyes. Oral medications, reading, computer tasks and dry environments may aggravate marginally dry eyes. Dry eyes can be diagnosed by using dyes to observe tear patterns, evaluation of the amount of tears on the front of the eye and from review of your symptoms. Treatment may include longer lasting artificial tears; prescription eye drops; and/or punctal plugs inserted in the tear drainage canals (Please see diagram).

The OCULUS Keratograph® 5M is an advanced corneal topographer providing patients a quick and easy way to evaluate dry eye conditions for our doctors to treat dry eye syndrome.

Allergies can be particularly annoying to contact lens wearers. In the past many people had to quit wearing their lenses for a month or two during the allergy season. New lens materials and allergy medications have made it possible for these people to eliminate itchy eyes. These medications such as once daily Pataday are amazingly effective and safe even in children as young as three.
