Rachael Sweeney, OD
Dr. Rachael Sweeney opened Vision Source Insight Eyecare in January 2002, with her late husband, Dr. David Sweeney.
Dr. Rachael Sweeney grew up in Halifax, Canada and was in the 1997 graduating class of the New England College of Optometry in Boston. She completed her training at VA Fresno, VA Manchester, Andrews AFB, and East Boston Community Health Center.
Dr. Rachael has a special interest in pediatric eye care and vision therapy. She is a member of Georgia Optometric Association (GOA) and American Optometric Association (AOA). Dr. Rachael Sweeney won Prevent Blindness Georgia’s “Volunteer of the Year” award, for providing eye exams in various shelters in Georgia and helping over 2,000 patients throughout the years.
In her free time, Dr. Rachael enjoys spending time with her four children, sailing, skiing, and scuba diving; whenever there is a chance, Dr. Rachael is on the way to her next adventure!
Kristi Walts, OD
Dr. Kristi Walts joined the Vision Source Insight Eyecare family in 2008.
Dr. Kristi Walts completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Georgia and went on to attend The University of Alabama School of Optometry. She previously headed the Optometry Department for The City of Atlanta Public Schools, where she provided eye health examinations and eyeglasses to children in need. Prior to seeing patients at Vision Source InSight Eyecare, Dr. Walts worked within commercial optometry.
In her free time, Dr. Walts enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and two children, and volunteering her time to The Lion’s Club, where she delivers eye health examinations to the underprivileged.
Jonathan Chen, OD, FAAO, FSLS
Dr. Jonathan Chen joined the Vision Source Insight Eyecare family in May 2022.
An Atlanta native, Dr. Chen completed his undergraduate studies from the University of Georgia and went on to graduate summa cum laude at the University of Houston College of Optometry. He completed training at a private practice specializing in medically necessary contact lenses, the Albuquerque VA Hospital, and at his school’s specialty Dry Eye clinic. With a passion for myopia management and dry eye disease, Dr. Chen believes in utilizing a wide range of therapies to better care for his patients.
After graduation, Dr. Chen spent an additional year in a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency with the University of Missouri – St. Louis. He focused on helping patients with conditions including keratoconus, corneal transplants, and corneal dystrophies/degeneration.
Dr. Chen has earned various awards and achievements including the Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care Award and the Georgia Optometric Association Allan V. Wexler Memorial Scholarship. He is a member of the Georgia Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, National Keratoconus Foundation, and International Keratoconus Academy. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society.
In his free time, Dr. Chen enjoys tennis, hiking, photography, traveling, and exploring the world through food.
